Antimicrobial coating - Baisch MICROCLEAN

"Serious hygiene deficiencies in Munich´s municipal hospitals. Surgery operation has largely come to a standstill in two hospitals."

Every now and then, headlines like this one in German newspapers show the importance of hygiene in medical practices.

The renowned German Robert-Koch-Institut (RKI) comments on practice hygiene as follows:

The efficiency of cleaning and disinfecting also depends on the quality of the surfaces. The surfaces of furniture and medical-technical devices in areas of patient treatment have to be smooth and easy to clean and disinfect, particularly at the parts in contact with the operating area. Especially for new acquisitions it is recommended to make sure that the surfaces are washable and disinfectant-proof. After every treatment of a patient, the surfaces close to the patient have to be disinfected.
Quoted from: Infection Prevention in Dentistry - Hygiene requirements (RKI)

Under appropriate ambient conditions (warm, humid etc.), bacteria, germs etc. settle on surfaces. They develop fast-growing cultures which can conquer whole surfaces and can only be contained or eliminated with complicated procedures (cleaning, disinfection...).
Conventional disinfectants have a very short effect here. After a few minutes, there is no protection against another contamination by micro-organisms.
This is why new ways of preventing or combating microbial contamination are urgently required.

The surface of our furniture is treated with a new anti-microbial coating, our Baisch MICROCLEAN coating.

What does "anti-microbial" mean?
While antibacterial agents exclusively fight against bacteria, anti-microbial substances have an effect on a multitude of pathogens:
-  bacteria (e.g. pneumococci and multi-resistant micro-organisms such as MRSA, etc.)
-  viruses (e.g. HIV, influenza, etc.)
-  mycosis (e.g. aspergillus niger, etc.)
-  algae
